I Wish to Pursue an MS Degree in Electrical Engineering :: Graduate Admissions Essays

I Wish to Pursue a MS Degree in Electrical Engineering  During my senior year at Purdue University, I settled on a choice that has affected the whole course of my training. While my schoolmates were settling on clear choices about their vocation ways, I decided to execute a five-year plan of improvement and development for myself. I planned this arrangement so as to inspect different vocations that I thought may intrigue me, just as to develop my capacities at that point. As I was accomplishing a BS degree in Electrical Engineering, I chose to concentrate principally on fields identified with the VLSI (Very Large-Scale Integrated) circuits region. My principle objectives were either to pick up work understanding or to assist my training by seeking after a MS degree in Electrical Engineering (MSEE). I saw a chance to both work and learn through work at Xilinx Inc. Working as an item engineer at an effective, cutting edge semiconductor organization has empowered me to use my specialized and relational aptitudes in new and testing ways. The position has additionally permitted me to connect with a large number of divisions including showcasing, incorporated circuit (IC) plan, programming/CAD improvement, producing, unwavering quality, bookkeeping, and deals. I in this way have increased a variety of experience that stretched out past the boundaries of my own duties. In the working environment, I depend intensely upon the relational procedures I created as an advisor in a Purdue living arrangement lobby, just as the authoritative aptitudes I had procured through holding different administration positions in social and designing social orders. I have additionally developed an enthusiasm for high-innovation advertising that has kept on developing all through my vocation.  My encounters with Xilinx have elevated my yearn for information in the VLSI field. Two months in the wake of joining the organization, I applied to a few low maintenance programs in the region that would permit me to obtain a MSEE degree inside a few years. San Jose State appeared to be a perfect decision, for its night MSEE courses would permit me to seek after two autonomous, full-time positions simultaneously. The San Jose program has praised my Xilinx obligations well; both interest huge degrees of vitality and eagerness while managing me to my definitive objective a serious extent of instruction in VLSI sciences. The assets that I filled the two undertakings have procured numerous additions. I have been elevated to a Product-Yield Engineering position inside Xilinx's Coarse Grain Static Memory (CGSM) Product Engineering division.

Tofu corndogs and low-fat ice cream

Tofu corndogs and low-fat ice cream Today marks the tenth day of my ill-conceived diet, and all I want right now is to eat something. A huge something. (Actually, thats not strictly true. Today should be day 11 of my diet, but on day 2 I feasted on pizza and bourbon chicken from the mall, so day 2 doesnt count.) In my glorious pre-turning-20 days, I never worried about my weight, except if it was too low. Even now, I dont worry about my weight during term, because I go to cheerleading practice and throw people around and get muscly. (Can you pick me out in that picture? Lets play Wheres Mollie!) I also lost about 5 pounds last term on what I like to call the 75 Unit Diet. But its summer now, and, after walking a mile to lab, I mostly sit and pipet all day. And then I come home at night and watch Law and Order: SVU. Plus, my boyfriend is some ridiculously elite freestyle skiier, so he has to stay in shape so that when he careens down a mountain on glare ice and breaks every bone in his body, he can look damn sexy doing it. Since I live with him and we cook together, him going on a diet = me going on a diet. Its actually going pretty well, despite my lamentations. Theres actually quite a wealth of yummy, low-cal/fat food out there. My favorite discovery so far has been the 150 calorie meatless corndogs from Trader Joes they taste exactly like normal corndogs, just slightly less greasy. We also found some great low-fat ice cream sandwiches at the grocery store. Instead of chocolate, Ive been gnawing on blueberries and low-fat Cool Whip to satisfy my sweet tooth. I am lucky for two things. First, we have the ability to cook for ourselves, and that gives us a lot of flexibility in making food that tastes good but is also healthy. (I came up with an idea to make manicotti with half cheese and half spinach. It sounds pretty good. Keep your fingers crossed.) Second, Macgregor Convenience is closed for the summer. If I want cookies, I have to purposely stop by LaVerdes or Star Market and get them myself, rather than taking a quick elevator trip to the junk food of my wildest dreams. The laziness factor is keeping me in low-cal chips and salsa. I just ate a slice of bread and some low-fat cheese, so I think it might be time to call my mother. She misses me or something.

Why Should You Recall Hearing About A Single Medication...

Do you recall hearing about a single medication pill that costs about $1000 each pill? Well, it exists. Sovaldi was a newly approved drug in 2015 designed to treat hepatitis C with an estimated cost of $84,000 for a standard 12-week treatment course. In addition to Sovaldi, the list price of Harvoni, another hepatitis C medication, is estimated to be $95,000 for the 12-week treatment course. Although it is alarming about how expensive these drugs may cost, an inescapable idea that would have passed our brains several times already would be â€Å"Why should I care?† and that patients are only willing to pay this price because they need it because they are sick. Even if it may seem that we don’t empathize them, the overall perception is that since we don’t have hepatitis C, we would not have to worry about these price tags because we would never have to pay this fee. Because of this, although we may feel sympathy towards these patients, we are rarely able to perceive their problems at a personal level. As alarming as this may sound, this does affect you in your daily lives. A majority of the people reading this piece may be healthy beings, but there are no guarantees that this may not affect us in the future. Then again, other than hepatitis C, there are numerous other illnesses such as rheumatoid arthritis that we may encounter later in our lives. These diseases also have an alarming price tag associated with its treatments or medications. Exponential Decay Definition and Function

In mathematics, exponential decay describes the process of reducing an amount by a consistent percentage rate over a period of time. It can be expressed by the formula ya(1-b)x  wherein y is the final amount, a is the original amount, b is the decay factor, and x is the amount of time that has passed. The exponential decay formula is useful in a variety of real world applications, most notably for tracking inventory thats used regularly in the same quantity (like food for a school cafeteria) and it is especially useful in its ability to quickly assess the long-term cost of use of a product over time. Exponential decay is different from  linear  decay  in that the decay factor relies on a percentage of the original amount, which means the actual number the original amount might be reduced by will change over time whereas a linear function decreases the original number by the same amount every time. It is also the opposite of exponential growth, which typically occurs in the stock markets wherein a companys worth will grow exponentially over time before reaching a plateau. You can compare and contrast the differences between  exponential growth and decay, but its pretty straightforward: one increases the original amount and the other decreases it. Elements of an Exponential  Decay Formula To start, its important to recognize the exponential decay formula and be able to identify each of its elements: y a (1-b)x In order to properly understand the utility of the decay formula, it is important to understand how each of the factors is defined, beginning with the phrase decay factor—represented by the letter b  in the exponential decay formula—which is a percentage  by which the original amount will decline each time. The original amount here—represented by the letter a  in the formula—is the amount before the decay occurs, so if youre thinking about this in a practical sense, the original amount would be the amount of apples a bakery buys and the exponential factor would be the percentage of apples used each hour to make pies. The exponent, which in the case of exponential decay is always time and expressed by the letter x, represents how often the decay occurs and is usually expressed in seconds, minutes, hours, days, or years. An Example of Exponential Decay Use the following example to help understand the concept of exponential decay in a real-world scenario: On Monday, Ledwith’s Cafeteria serves 5,000 customers, but on Tuesday morning, the local news reports that the restaurant fails health inspection and has—yikes!—violations related to pest control. Tuesday, the cafeteria serves 2,500 customers. Wednesday, the cafeteria serves only 1,250 customers. Thursday, the cafeteria serves a measly 625 customers. As you can see, the number of customers declined by 50 percent  every day. This type of decline differs from a linear function. In a linear function, the number of customers would decline by the same amount every day. The original amount (a) would be 5,000, the decay factor (b ) would, therefore, be .5 (50 percent written as a decimal), and the value of time (x) would be determined by how many days  Ã¢â‚¬â€¹Ledwith wants to predict the results for. If Ledwith were to ask about how many customers he would lose in five days if the trend continued, his accountant could find the solution by plugging all of the above numbers into the exponential decay formula to get the following: y 5000(1-.5)5 The solution comes out to 312 and a half, but since you cant have a half customer, the accountant would round the number up to 313 and be able to say that in five days, Ledwith could expect to lose another 313 customers!

Restaurant Food Handling & Food Safety

Question: Discuss about theRestaurant Food Handling Food Safety. Answer: Introduction: Food Safety Food safety is a discipline that deals with handling, storage, and preparation of food in a bid to ensure that foodborne illnesses are prevented. Some of the important routines that have been put forth by this discipline include many procedures that are designed to avoid any possible severe health hazards. It is this view that food safety has in many ways overlapped with food defense so as to ensure the safety of consumers. Food safety is one among the many important aspects that are held in high regard not only among food handlers but also in every sphere of life. The safe steps that are used in handling, cooking and storage of food are very critical in ensuring that food is not only kept healthy and tasty but also kept from such infectious agents as a virus, bacteria, and fungi. The Food Act that was enacted in 1984 provides that all the food operators and handlers comply with the safety standards. For those operating a commercial eatery joint, it is important that such details as storage, display, processing, packaging, receipt of food and transport are conspicuously indicated and correctly considered. For every household and eatery joint, it is important that all the steps involved in the preparation of food to ensure their safety. Some of the known campaigns that can guarantee human safety include cooking at the appropriate temperature, washing of hands and the surfaces in a regular manner, separating the foodstuffs to ensure that they do not cross-contaminate. Another common practice that is highly recommended for households is the use of refrigerators. When it comes to cooking, it is important that the cook prepares a raw meat, be it beef, pork, veal steaks, lamb and chops to a minimum internal heat before removing it from the heat. Most importantly, care must be taken to ensure that food is left for about three minutes or so before serving. However, for purposes of personal preferences, one may be compelled to simmer or cook his meal (meat) at considerably high temperatures. While storing food, it is important that the safety and suitability of the foodstuff are taken into consideration. Primarily, food must be kept at suitable temperatures and protected from any form of contamination. Potentially Perilous food must be maintained at correct temperatures, that is, they should be frozen. It is also of great importance for food handlers to observe appropriate behavioral factors when it comes to cooking. They should look into it that they isolate the barriers and their motivations that help in influencing their way of handling food in their establishments. Personal hygiene is also paramount when it comes to ensuring that consumers are safe. It is important that food handlers observe the basics that include identifying the factors that are associated with the safe hand hygiene issues. In conclusion, food handlers must at all times ensure that they do everything in their powers to avoid contaminating food. Most importantly, they should wash their hands in running warm water and then dry them with either an air drier or a paper towel. All food handlers must inform their supervisors in case they have any issues such as diarrhea, sore throats, jaundice or infected skins. References CDC, U.
